Administrative Intern/Office Manager

The Center is looking for a motivated, creative and detail-oriented person to organize the offices located in Washington, D.C. Responsibilities include:

  • organize international files on conscientious objectors and peace organizations around the world;
  • archive old materials;
  • implement and maintain library filing system;
  • assist with collection and proofing of CO statements from military and civilian COs;
  • fill literature requests for information on conscientious objection, draft and war resistance, selective service registration and military counseling;
  • other administrative duties.

Computer skills helpful.  Please send a cover letter and resume to J. E. McNeil, Executive Director, as soon as possible.

Military Counselors Needed!

The Center is looking for volunteers to assist staff with the increase in military counseling calls. These calls are from service members in the armed forces who are looking for advice about their rights. Cases include conscientious objection, AWOL consequences and how to write a DEP Separation request.

The Center is also looking for conscientious objector counselors. If you live near a military base and are interested in helping COs, or if you are a military CO familiar with the long and tedious process of requesting a CO discharge, we could use your help.

Previous experience as military counselor preferred, but not required. The Center will train all interested volunteers. Evening counseling sessions welcomed, and counseling from home also available. Please contact J. E. McNeil, Executive Director, as soon as possible.
